Driving Directions

From Bellingham and the Alaska Ferry: Standard Scenic Route:

Begin at I-5 at Sunset Drive by Sunset Square and head East for 15 miles. Sunset Drive becomes SR 542, the Scenic Mt. Baker Highway. By the time you are 9 miles out of town, you will encounter magnificent views (weather permitting) of Mt. Baker and the Twin Sisters. Keep heading East and make sure that you continue past SR 9 going North (to Sumas) and proceed 5 miles to SR9 going South to Sedro Woolley and turn Right on SR9. There will be no signs directing you to either Van Zandt or the luscious secret of the South Fork Valley. In 2 miles you will be at the Yellow Building that is Everybody's Store.

From Bellingham: Even More Scenic Route:

Begin at I-5 to Lakeway Drive and head out East to the Geneva and Sudden Valley Neighborhoods. Go on around the lake all the way to Park Road. Keep heading East until you reach SR9 at which point you go North (left ) and in 9 miles you will finally arrive in Van Zandt. It's a pretty, long and winding ride.

From Seattle and points South and East:

State Route (SR) 9 provides a scenic and leisurely journey from as far south as SR 522 in Snohomish County. Most travelers are likely to be traveling on I-5. They should Exit I-5 onto Cross State Highway SR 20 in Burlington. Look for the exit to the Anacortes Ferry but make sure you go East on SR 20 until you reach SR9 going North out of Sedro Woolley towards Mt. Baker and Sumas. Once on SR9 it is 20 gorgeous miles, passing through the pioneer hamlets of Wickersham, Acme and Clipper, thence on to Everybody's Store in Van Zandt. Look for the Gas Depot Sign.

From Whistler and Vancouver, and the Lower Mainland of British Columbia: Quick Route:

The fastest crossing from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia to the Foothills and Mt. Baker Recreation Area of Whatcom County is to be found at the Abbotsford/Sumas Border Crossing. This 24 hour Station 2 miles South of Canada #1 gives immediate access to SR 9. Stay on SR 9 until it runs into SR 542 at Nugents Corner. Take a left and travel past the Nooksack River Casino and quickly thereafter pick up SR 9 going South to Sedro Woolley. Everybody's Store is only 2 miles down the road.

From Whistler, Vancouver and the Lower Mainland of British Columbia: Blaine Route:

Take Canada #99 to White Rock, Huntingdon and Blaine. Stay on I-5 South to the Sunset Drive Exit in Bellingham. Head East. See routes from Bellingham above.
