Pleasant things to do near Everybody's Store in Van Zandt Washington:

Day Walking or Mountain Bike riding on Stewart Mountain due west of the
store provides breathtaking views of the South Fork Valley, The Van Zandt Dike, Mt. Baker, The Twin Sisters Range, the Nooksack River and the Foothills surrounding Mt. Baker.

Easy access to the Nooksack River is a few hundred yards west of the store. The South Fork is accessible throughout the valley. Unlike the glacier fed North and Middle Forks of the Nooksack, the placid waters of the Southfork allow for safe and comfortable swimming from June thru September.

The Store is one mile south of the North Fork of the Nooksack. Eagle watching and professional white water rafting are traditional activities on the North Fork. Fishers must consult the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Regulations when fishing the Nooksack River.

Everybody's Store in Van Zandt is situated in the Foothills of the Cascades which is the Gateway to the Mt. Baker Recreation area and the Snoqualamie National Forest. Overnight and Day Backpacking Trails abound in both Skagit and Whatcom Counties. Forest Service Trail Permits may be purchased for $3 at Everybody's Store.

The following Recreational destinations are within a one hour drive of the Van Zandt: Silver Lake Park, Larabee State Park, Birch Bay State Park, Heather Meadows and all Trail Heads at the Mt. Baker Recreation Area in Whatcom County. In Skagit County: Baker & Shannon Lakes, Mt. Baker Hot Springs, Schreiber's Meadow and associated Trail Heads. Alsoin Skagit are Deception Pass State Park, Padilla Bay Bird Sanctuary, Skagit Wildlife Sactuary.
